Parents / Carers

Any successful school relies on the input and hard work of three parties; the students, the staff and the parents.  The Ripley Academy is committed to involving the parents and carers of students in as many parts of school life as possible. Parental involvement runs throughout a child’s life in the school. Please click here to view staff at The Ripley Academy.

Parents are kept informed of their child’s progress via regular ‘Progress Reports’.  These are colour coded to highlight over or underachievement.

The school runs extended ‘Consultation Afternoons’ where parents have a chance to meet their children’s teachers and discuss progress.

We run regular parental information evenings ranging from Year 6 Parent Roadshows through to Year 12 ‘Help with UCAS’ Evenings.

Parents will be informed and invited to children’s performances ranging from the Christmas Carol Concert through to Sports Day.

Homework

The school is committed to setting Homework online via Show My Homework.  All parents have log-ins where they can view their children’s homework, homework deadlines, attendance, achievements and timetable.

Immunisations

Information from Derbyshire County Council

Please note that routine vaccinations that were previously available via your own GP are now being given within schools as a means of ensuring all students are kept up to date with these. The School Immunisations Team are co-ordinating their delivery and only contact schools when vaccinations are due. Therefore, any queries relating to vaccinations should be directed to this team on 01283 707170. Unfortunately, we will not be able to answer your queries unless we have written directly to you regarding a forthcoming vaccination.

To date we are aware of the following vaccinations being administered in school;

Teenage Booster (Tetanus, Diphtheria and Polio) – Year 9 and 11 students

Meningococcal ACWY (Men ACWY) – Year 9 and 11 students

Human Papillomavirus (HPV) – Year 8 and 9 girls only
