Careers Education

Through PSHE lessons all children are taught about careers from Y7 through the school. In addition to this during enrichment days students may get the opportunity to attend events organised by the school such as careers days, events at universities etc. In the last twelve months students we have done the following:

Y7 and Y8 – STEM day led by Rolls Royce in school to promote careers in Engineering.
Y9-Y13 have attended a careers fair hosted in school and attended by 20 employers.
Y10 – Attended an apprenticeship talk hosted at school.

Y10 – Residential trip to Sheffield University
Y9 and Y10- - Targeted students visited Corpus Christi College at The University of Oxford to look at ‘life at university’.

All pupils in Year 11 have an  interview conducted by their tutor or a member of the senior team twice in the year to look at supporting children in their GCSE year. Part of this conversation focuses on students plans and ideas post GCSE and supporting them in this crucial year. Students are supported throughout by an external careers advisor who sees students at least once.
