The Ripley Academy

Understanding Cyber Crime

All students were very fortunate to receive a special assembly last week from Richard Heysmond, East Midlands Police regarding the Computer Misuse Act 1990. With the increasing amount of time young people spend online these days it was essential that students are aware of the law regarding this to protect themselves whilst online. Students have commented how interesting and enjoyable the assemblies were and many were interested in the possible careers available in cyber security. Richard has left the school with a puzzle to solve in the form of a special coin which begins a puzzle to solve. Any student who can solve the puzzle will be invited to visit GCHQ (Government Communication Headquarters) and is likely to be headhunted for a future career. Mr Hudson, Head of Computer Science has the coin for anyone who wants to try to solve the puzzle. Good luck to those brave enough to have a go!
