Sixth Form Life

The Sixth Form journey begins when you start studying at the Ripley Academy Sixth Form.  After studying for two years in the Sixth Form, you will be ready and prepared for the next step of the journey, your future.

Typically, students who study at the Ripley Academy Sixth Form once they have completed their studies move onto;

  • University Study
  • Apprenticeship
  • World of Work

Our facilities include a dedicated Sixth Form Block which contains Common Room and separate silent supervised study room with new p.c’s, photocopier and printer.  Students have access to state of the Art Sport facilities including the Astroturf and Sports Hall.

Summary of the total study programme hours per subject per year:

Year 12: 175 hours (students study 3/4 A2 subjects = 700 hours)

Year 13: 156 hours (students study 3 A2 subjects + EPQ = 518 hours)

Extended Project (Year 13): 50 hours

GCSE Maths re-sit: 68 hours

GCSE English re-sit; 68 hours

Enrichment Programme

Wednesday P1 enrichment: 20 hours (Y12), 16 hours (Y13)

Tutor times and assemblies; 48 hours (Y12) 40 hours (Y13)

Work Experience week; 40 hours

Total for a typical Y12 Students per year:

4 A levels + Enrichment + Tutor Time + Assemblies + Work Experience

700 + 20 + 48 + 40 = 768 Hours.

Total for a typical Y13 Students per year:

3 A levels + Enrichment + Tutor Time + Assemblies + Extended Project

468 + 16 + 40 + 50 = 574 Hours.
